Sorry I haven't written any new posts recently. This is mainly because I don't have any good new to share with you. The pain in my leg continued to bother me every time I ran. I decided to take some time off running and consult an orthopedist. She suggested I get an MRI, because the xray they took was inconclusive and start physical therapy. After reviewing the MRI she told me I have a deep muscle strain in my left calf and early signs of a stress fracture in my tibia.
At this point I'm pretty frustrate that I am unable to run. I decided it would be better not to run the 8K race with Sam, for fear of making my injuries worse. Instead I hung out by the finish line to cheer him on. It was exciting just watching the start and the finish of the race. It really made me wish I could have ran that race. For the first time I was actually excited about running and mad that I wasn't able to participate.
At this point I am pretty far behind with the training. I've still been exercising and going to physical therapy. I'm not sure if I will still be able to run the marathon or have to switch to the half marathon or have to back out completely. I'm still hopeful that I will be able to run at least in the half marathon, but I'm going to have to wait and see what my orthopedist says later this week. If I am not able to compete in this marathon or if I am only able to run the half marathon I will be back another season finish what I've started and run a full marathon.
I'll keep you posted, and let you know what my doctor advises me to do.
