I then ran about 5.5 miles towards Guilford and then back to the Branford Green with Forrest from mrbimble.com. It was a good run, but my right knee was killing me so I heavily favored my left leg for most of the run. I had serious doubts about being able to continue at about 3 points, but just refused to let myself stop. Finishing up felt good, despite the heavy rain that hit us for the last 2 miles or so.
I felt great reaching a new personal best distance and I want to thank Forrest for getting me through it. I've been sore for most of the day, but am going to try and meet up with the group again tomorrow for some trails.
Sam,
ReplyDeleteGreat job Saturday. But, you made it look so easy, I didn't realize you were hurting quite that much. Don't injure yourself in the home stretch of the training. Having said that "pain & rain" definitely builds character.
Forrest
Forrest,
ReplyDeleteWhen we turned around, I started off behind you because I was hobbling so bad. Once we started talking about cyclists I was thoroughly worked up enough about that topic that I wasn't even thinking about my leg. My coaches did give me some tips for working through this, but told me it'll probably be a few weeks before the pain completely stops. So I anticipate a lot of "character building" this month.
