17 Mile Run!!!

For yesterday's long run I set out to complete my 15 mile run which I first attempted on April 18th but was unable to finish do to knee pain. On the subway ride over to central park in the morning we discovered there was a Revlon Walk/Run taking place in Central Park that morning. As a result of that the park was very crowded so we were forced to run elsewhere.

We started out running from Central Park to the West Side Highway and then we turned south. It was a nice run because it was mostly flat and we had a constant change in scenery. I had no concept of how far I was running because I didn't wear a watch or a fancy Nike +. All I knew going into this run was that Battery Park was abut 6 miles from where we started.

At one point I lost the group I started with when I stopped for a bathroom break, but later met up with another group from TNT and I finished the run with them. I met up with this group right before Battery Park. We continued past Battery Park, past the Brooklyn Bridge, then the Manhattan Bridge. Shortly thereafter we turned around and headed back to Central Park the way we came.

When all was said and done I ran a total of 17 MILES!!!! That's 2 miles longer then I set out to run, and 4 miles more than my previous long run. My entire body is sore right now, and I was limping for the rest of the day after the run...but I did it!!
